Apparently tofu is a very versatile ingredient. Created from soybean, the resulting mixture can be formed into nearly anything you could want it to be:
- Savory
- Sweet
- Deep fried
- Stewed
- etc
Where Is It
In Hong Kong’s Causeway Bay area, not that far from the the station of the same name. It’s right off Jardine’s Bazaar surrounded by shops and eateries.
What to Eat
Eat tofu but we tried the sweet variety:
- Tofu with ginger broth
- Tofu with black sesame
I heard some people comment on how rough it was. I thought it was really smooth but perhaps I am not used to it and think that anything smoother than sand is smooth.
After seeing the savory option, we tried that as well; the freshly fried fish paste stuffed tofu is tasty.
More Than Meets the Eye
It’s rather enjoyable, more so than I thought possible. I’m glad that I gave it a chance and now I have to add it to my list of things to eat everywhere I go.
