Hawaii is one of those places where I’ve heard people live purely off the land and off the grid eating only what Mother Nature can provide. One of the many ways Mother Nature does that is with taro, which is both a stable and also of cultural significance.

Taro, a starchy plant that is highly nutritious and is commonly found in a lot of local products. One such polarizing dish you may have heard of is poi. I personally like poi though I can understand why others may find the texture to be off putting. But it also comes in the form of refreshingly delicious taro smoothies!

Nadia and I were looking for something both light and healthy and of course, Nadia had found this place online. It served fresh food at a good price and it didn’t hurt were staying nearby.

We pulled up and ordered up a Hawaiian plate of local steamed taro leaf wrapped pork lau lau! Every now and again I get a hankering for some good pork lau lau! I’m also a big fan of Hawaiian mac salad, it’s so creamy!

And of course we got a taro smoothie which was delicious to wash down our meal.

Make your way over if you’re in the area for some great eat!
