Look Out for the Hanalei Valley Lookout
What do you mean they are closing?
They are doing some building work for the next couple months.
Hanalei Valley Lookout tl;dr
- If you drive by too fast you’ll miss
- The view is amazing
- Enjoy the moment
Nadia and I were driving around the island of Kauai as we want to do when in town. When passing by Princeville we happened to drive by a sign for a lookout. We had noticed early on that every so often there would be signs off the road highlighting a view.
With nothing pressing to do, we would go out of our way stopping at as many of them as we could, even going so far as to flipping a you turn for those that we missed.
Fortunately for us, there was available parking and we jumped out to see what we could see.
What is It
This highway outlook over looks the vast Hanalei Valley. There’s so many taro fields tiling together the lush green mosaic landscape highlighting Naoklokama Mountain.
I’ve heard that on a good day that you can see waterfalls. I didn’t see them but their absence didn’t take away from the beauty of it all.
Where is It
You can find the lookout near Princeville Shopping Center near the town of Princeville on the Northern part of Kauai off the main Highway 56/560. It will be on the side of the road facing the middle of the island.
What to Do
What else is there to do in there other than take photos and take in the view? Not much else….
But there’s plenty of other things to do in the area:
- You can go shopping at the Princeville Shopping Center
- Get a bite to eat at the same center
- Go into the Hanalei Valley to hike
There’s probably a lot more to do, so go out there and explore!
