Loving Everything About the Kyoto Station 京都駅
I wonder if we’ll find something to do inside the station?
I don’t think we’ll have too much trouble finding things to do inside or outside Kyoto Station.
Kyoto Station 京都駅 tl;dr
- You Can Get Here From Tokyo By JR Bullet Train
- Huge Train Station With Tons of Stuff
- Plenty of Things to Eat and Shop
Japan is known for their train stations. They are so big and so inclusive that they are literally towns, if not little cities all in of themselves. Personally, I find that some stations are destinations, having unique things, items, restaurants that can only be found there.
Considering that I’m not all too familiar with Tokyo as of yet, unfortunately I haven’t spent as much time as I would like exploring this modern day urban transportation depots cum shopping malls to the degree that I would like.
Funny things about getting to Tokyo… When Nadia and I last took the train to Kyoto we were rushing and wasn’t paying attention to the train we got on thinking that the one about to leave was the one we were supposed to get on.
It wasn’t.
We sat there on the wrong train thinking everything was working out well till the conductor came over to check our ticket. He looked at it and asked where we were going. Upon realizing that we were on the wrong train, he indicated that we have to get off at the next stop and jump on the next train. And just like that, we were back on track to Kyoto.
After getting there, we were so hungry that we ate plenty of things both new and recommended. There’s a department store with a food hall that has some of the best ramen. And on one side of the station there’s a sushi belt restaurant where I tried horse meat. And it was good!
