Start the Day at Cafetería Neila of Madrid

Served with Olive Oil and Tomato Sauce

Breakfast can be a very important meal of any day. Typically I don’t eat breakfast but when Nadia remind me that I need to, it’s more than likely that she knows I’ll need the energy for whatever caloric deficit she plans to make me spend. What I’m trying to say, she knows best even though I’d rather be sleeping in.

Where Is It

First time visiting to Madrid, we found a place to stay near the Botanical Garden. It turned out to be a great location, walking distance to everything. Everyday we tried something new, and Cafeteria Neila was yet another Madrid eating option.

Just off the main street, about a block away from where we were staying is this nondescript food shop. I would never have thought to enter without Nadia’s prompting. I’m glad she did.

What to Eat

Orange Juice
Coffee
Spanish Omelette
Ham and Cheese Sandwich

Given the pricing and packages, it was complicated by the sheer volume of differing options. Literally, there were several dozen options categorized in 3 pricing groups which only differed by 0.75 Euro. Can’t go wrong and probably could have simply blindly picked something to eat.

Ultimately, while nothing super fancy, the dishes were solid and incredibly fresh testing. Considering we had long days of touristing ahead of us, we opted for lighter options which kept us satiated till lunch.

Solid Local Breakfast

Cafetería Neila is a simple, no nonsense, very bang for your buck local eatery that was open early and served hot food fast. They helped us start out our days early with a hearty breakfast, and more importantly, strong coffee. It didn’t hurt that it was down the street from where we were staying.
